Eye Exams

Eye ExamAt JEA, a team of medical professionals including experienced technicians and medical doctors (MDs) are involved in your care. If you receive eye exams elsewhere, we are happy to work with your eye care professional to meet your more complex eye care needs. We have many respected colleagues in the optical field and are able to team with them to coordinate all aspects of your eye care.

About Your Visit: You may have come to us on your own, or your family doctor may have sent you. If your family doctor referred you, rest assured that your diagnosis and care plan will be carefully coordinated with him or her. If you have come without a physician referral, we will also be happy to share information about your care with your primary care physician upon your request. We protect your privacy and will never share your medical information with anyone unless you give permission.

Before Your Visit: Before each scheduled appointment, you will receive a reminder from our office. If the reminder includes new patient forms, we ask that you complete them before your visit. So we may tailor care especially for you, please bring these important items to your appointment:

  • A list with dosage amounts of your medicine, herbal supplements and/or vitamins
  • A list of questions you want to ask your doctor about your condition or care
  • All insurance information with telephone number and address of the insurance company
  • A picture ID
  • Any payment or co-payment your insurance company may require
  • Your current glasses and/or contact lenses
  • For your convenience, our "new patient forms" can be downloaded so that you may fill them out before your visit if you prefer.

If you must reschedule or cancel your appointment, we ask that you notify us at least 24-hours in advance of your appointment time. We strive to offer convenient appointments for everyone and often have a stand-by waiting list. We appreciate your consideration.

During Your Visit: Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete your registration. When you arrive, please check-in at the registration desk. While we try to keep all the appointments on schedule, we also give every patient the time they need for a thorough visit. Sometimes we do run behind schedule, but if we ask you to wait, we will make every effort to make you comfortable. Our waiting area has complimentary beverages and current reading material. All JEA staff members are available to assist you in filling out any paperwork. We believe that your care is closely related to your comfort during your visit. If there is anything we can do please feel free to ask.
