About
JEA was formed in 1999, through the partnership of four physicians: Dr. John McVey, Dr. Ken Toler, Dr. Glenn Herrington, and Dr. John Ford. In 2001, JEA acquired the practice of Dr. Robert May. In 2002, Dr. Curtis Whittington merged his practice in with JEA. Also in 2002, Dr. Phil Smith completed his residency and joined the practice.
In January of 2005, Dr. Robert Mallette, Dr. Richard Blount, and Dr. Wilson Moak merged their practices with JEA. Our most recent change occurred in 2007, when Dr. Troy Newman completed his residency and joined our practice. Now JEA boasts twelve of the states most highly trained ophthalmologists, making it the largest ophthalmology practice in Mississippi.
