We want to thank you for your interest in JEA’s Dry Eye Center. Our goal in treating your dry eye problem is to improve your comfort, and your ability to perform your day to day tasks.
Many people experience occasional dry eyes. It can be related to the weather, allergies, contacts, or other factors. However, some people develop chronic dry eye disease. This is also referred to as dry eye syndrome or keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS). Dry eye disease refers to a group of disorders of the tear film. This is usually due to reduced tear production or excessive tear evaporation. This is associated with symptoms of eye discomfort and may cause disease of the eye surface.
No one treatment works for all dry eye patients. Many of the treatments may require several months to take full effect, while other treatments are long term, and may require continuous care.
When you come in to the office for your appointment, we do ask that you bring a list of all medications and eye drops that you are currently using. We also ask that you come into your first appointment without ANY eye or facial makeup. This enables us to perform several important test that will help us determine the severity of you dry eye problem. |
